Noah Nicholas Emmerich (born February 27, 1965) is an American film actor who first broke out in the film Beautiful Girls. He was later seen in the movies The Truman Show, Cop Land, Frequency, Love & Sex, Windtalkers, Miracle, Super 8 and Little Children. He currently stars as FBI Agent Stan Beeman on the FX series, The Americans.

Early life and education

Emmerich was born in New York City on February 27, 1965. His mother, Constance, is a concert pianist, and his father, André Emmerich (1924–2007), was a gallery owner and art dealer who was born in Frankfurt, Germany.[1][2] He has two brothers: Toby Emmerich, president and chief operating officer at New Line Cinema, and a screenwriter as well; and Adam Emmerich, a mergers & acquisitions lawyer at the firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York. His family is Jewish.[3][4]

He studied the Meisner technique of acting privately under Ron Stetston, an actor/director who is currently senior member of the acting staff at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City. He is a graduate of Yale University, where he majored in History and sang in the "Yale Spizzwinks(?)" a cappella singing group. Career

Emmerich started his career doing guest roles in television series such as NYPD Blue and Melrose Place, and also having minor roles in films like Last Action Hero.

In 1996, he starred in the film Beautiful Girls, which was his first starring role and earned him positive reviews from audiences and critics. He then went on to have supporting roles in such movies as, The Truman Show, Life and Frequency.

In the 2000s, Emmerich began to star in more dramatic films, such as Julie Johnson, Beyond Borders, Little Children, Pride and Glory and many more.

He also began to make guest roles on television series such as, Monk, White Collar and The Walking Dead, which earned him a Saturn Award nomination.

In 2011, he played the main antagonist, Colonel Nelec, in J.J. Abrams's film Super 8, which earned positive reviews from critics and was a box office success.

In 2013, he had his first starring role in a television series, as FBI Agent Stan Beeman, on the FX series, The Americans. The series has earned positive reviews from critics and Emmerich earned a Critic's Choice Award nomination for his performance. The series was renewed for a second season, which is scheduled to air in February 2014. Personal life
