Joseph was married twice before he came to MacKinnon's Harbour, and both times to a Miss Mombourquette. His family from the first wife was: Annie May, Bertha, and Cecilia who died in infancy. His family from the second wife was: Rita, Charlie, Cecilia, Kathleen, Nora, Abe, Felix, Annie, Leo who was adopted by John Alex (Seonaid) MacNeil, Ottawa Brook (see 254), and a son and two daughters who died in infancy. 278

GAGNE (Bonoparte), Nora Christina - 83, MacKinnon's Harbour, died September 19, 2006.

Born January 3, 1923, in MacKinnon's Harbour, Victoria Co., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Mombourquette) Bonoparte.

She was a member of Iona Legion, Branch 124. Nora Bonoparte was a veteran of the Second World War, enlisting in the women's auxiliary and was stationed in Quebec City as a munitions worker making shells. After the war she married and became a resident of Quebec. After her husband's death in 1989 she returned home to MacKinnon's Harbour where she resided until her passing.

Surviving are sons, Rene Gagne and Jean Paul Gagne; daughters, Dorothy Gagne, Collete Boisvert, and Evelyn Gagne; brothers, Abe Bonoparte and Leo Bonoparte; sisters, Rita McInnis, Cecila MacNeil, and Cathleen MacLean; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Gagne; brothers, Charlie Bonoparte, Raymond Bonoparte, and Felix Bonoparte; sisters, Annie May Bailley, Bertha MacLeod, and Annie MacNeil.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, September 24, in St. Columba Parish Community Hall, with Prayer Services at 4 p.m., Father Charlie Donovan officiating.

Her ashes will be taken back to Quebec City to be buried next to her husband, Maurice Gagne. Arrangements under the direction of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck.
