Norman "Norm" Clifton Osen, 77, of Salmon, died January 12, 2010 of natural causes at a long term care center in Pocatello, Idaho. He was born February 29, 1932, in Caldwell to Clifford and Ina Olsen. He spent his youth working the orchards and fields around Caldwell. During this time he spent sometimes in the Rogerston area, working on a cattle ranch with one of his uncles. As a teenager he lived in Beaverton, Oregon with another uncle and his family. While attending high schoo in Beaverton he joined the Air Force at age 17. When he and his wife Dorothy were married in 1955, they each brought a child to the family. She had a son, Rick and he had a daughter Rena. Together they had a son, Rory in 1960. Olsen served for 11 years in the Air Force. In 1960 he was hired by the California Air National Guard as an Aircaft maintence technician. He reitred from the Air Forece Reserves, June 27, 1990 and the Air Force, February 29, 1992. Last summer he taught himself to do upholstery and re-upholstered the back seat of his 1938 Buick Limousine. He was also working on a 1965 Lincoln and a 1972 Jeep. Cars were his passion. He also loved racing cars and was a avid NASCAR fan. Several years ago he and a brother in law raced a stock car at the local track. while they never made any prize money, they both enjoyed the sport and getting the car in condition to run each week was a family affair.
