According to Norwegian records, Ole Olson Arnegard immigrated to the USA on: 2 April 1861. He was the son of Ole Olson Arnegard, and Margit Olsdt. Sehl. Ole settled in MN, where he served in the Civil War. After serving, he settled in Rice County, MN, where he met and married Marit (Mary) Knutson Rovang on 30 March 1868 in the Plymouth Congregational Church in Faribault, MN.

The first census found, 1875, shows them living in Wheeling Township, Rice county, MN, with children: Ole, 5 yrs, Knutson, 4 years and Martin, 2 years. (Child, Betsey Maria would also be born in Rice County on 14 November 1875. All these children would be baptized in the Valley Grove church, near Nerstrand, Rice, MN).

The family ventured to Traill County, ND, where Ole homesteaded and farmed. More children were born: Albert, in 1877; Annetta, in 1880; Andrew, in 1881; Oscar, in 1883 and Emma, in 1885. Their home was a log cabin. Marit died in 1886, shortly before the new home that was being built was completed.

After the death of Marit, Ole did remarry in 1893 to Marie Smaaladen. One child was born before Ole died in 1896, Mable, born 1894.
