1848 immigration: Ole Juelsen Haaverud (23yrs), Randi Engebretsdatter (20yrs), Ulrik Juelsen Haaverud (27yrs) & Ragnild Syversdatter (??) sailed on the ship/brig "Statsraad Vogt", leaving Bergen on May 5th & arriving in New York on July 3rd. Born “Ole Juelsen Hoverud” on 4 Mar 1825 in Nord-Aurdal, Oppland, Norway, son of Jul Knudsen Hoverud and Marit Julsdatter (son of Juel Evensen Haavrud & Aaste Juelsdatter Midtstrand). Married 15 Mar 1848 to Randi Engebretsdatter Øspeli. They came to America with his brother Knud, a sister Marit and a cousin on the “Statsraad Vogt”, which sailed from Bergen and reahed New York on 3 Jul 1848. Civil War: Farmer. Age 40. Married. Blue eyes, light hair, dark complexion, 5’9”. Enlisted for one year on 10 Mar 1865 at Boscobel, Grant County. Mustered there the same day. Bounty $100, $33.33 paid. Private. “Captain Charles Cox, Company H, died 11 Jul 1865 from wounds received at hands of Private Ole Julson on board Steamer ‘Post Boy’ on the Missouri River.” On 10 Jul 1865, “O. Julson jumped overboard from Steamer ‘Post Boy’ on Missouri River and supposed to be drowned.” Unit was on its way from Jefferson, Missouri, to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, at the time. Shooting took place near Boonville, Missouri.
