Ole Larson Skjermo

The family is also registered in the Hyldbakk's "Gards- og ættesoge for Surnadal bind 1", page 178, on farm Utigard Skjermo: [https://www.nb.no/items/e5f6cb02ce02881e307dc3caab071273?page=181&s...]. The Utigard Skjermo belonged to Oles family from 1695-1897.

Ole emigrates to America (Eau Claire, Wisconsin) in 1872 (See «Amerikafeber. Utvandringa til USA og Canada frå Surnadal og gamle Stangvik kommune» av Magne Holten(?)). He is also recorded on a boat to America in 1875:[https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/9/og00000000057603]. He travels together with Lava Thronsdatter "Skjærmo" (link: [https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/9/og00000000057604]). The records say that Ole lives in America at the time (1875) as a farmer, whereas Lava lives in Surnadal. They may be married now, as Lava has the Skjermo name on this travel. I have not been able to find their marriage record in the Surnadal church books.

Ole's sister Maret also emigrates to America in 1882. She emigrated with her two children. (Link: [https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/9/og00000000075467]). Her husband is probably already in America.
