Attorney Selfridge Dies At 72
Attorney O. B. (Brice) Selfridge, 2975 Ft. Amanda Road, 72, was dead on arrival at St. Rita's Hospital at 1:15 p.m. Friday after suffering a heart attack in his home.
He was born April 5, 1890, in Lima, the son of Oliver and Anna Selfridge.
Mr. Selfridge graduated from Lima High School in 1910 [sic: 1908]and Wooster College in 1912. Following his graduation from Harvard Law School in 1917, he entered into private law practice with his brother, Calvin F. Selfridge. The firm was known as Selfridge and Selfridge. He had been semi-retired for several years.
For many years he was librarian for the Allen County Bar Association. He was a member of the American, Ohio State and Allen County Bar Association, T and T Club, American Legion Post 96, Lima Lodge of Elks, Masonic Lodge F and AM 205, Lima Chapter 49 RAM, Lima Council 20 RNSM and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He had served in World War I in Officers Training Corps. He was a member of Market Street Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Selfridge is survived by his wife, Harriett, a daughter, Anna, at home; a brother, Calvin F., of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Cantwell-Sweet Mortuary with Dr. Wood Duff officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The Allen County Bar Association will conduct memorial services in Common Pleas Court Room at 1 p.m. Monday and attend the funeral in a body.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
