He appears to have been from the island of Byre in Finnøy parish and was probably living there in 1563. Byre belonged to a noble family, so Orm was leasing it from them. However, he owned a considerable amount of land around Ryfylke, including Stokka in Vats. Orm was named at Stokka in 1591, but was back at Byre in 1599. He was one of the 12 lagrettemenn who chose the area's representives to the coronation of King Christian IV.
