About Oscar Lindgren
Oscar was born to Carl and Elise Lindgren in Haugen, Torberget, Norway and came into Ellis Island on 20 July 1914 from Kristiana, Norway with his mother and six siblings on the S/S KRISTIANAFJORD. Magnus died in Wisconsin in 1910 and Dortinus had died in Norway in 1912.
Oscar married Martha Edwardson on February 11, 1923 at the home of his parents in Jessie Lake. Eight children were born to this union, six living to adulthood: Ruby Lindgren Sannes, William/Bill Lindgren, Mable Lindgren Kongsjord Heinlein, Olga Lindgren Wise, Jon Lindgren and Neal Lindgren.
Oscar was my dad, spent a lot of time away from home in logging camps... we also had cabins and rented out boats. Dad was a fishing guide and always brought in the big ones.
FROM HIS OBITUARY: Funeral services were held for Oscar Lindgren, who died at Jessie Lake on July 9, at the VFW hall in Talmoon on Sunday. Rev. H. Eckman officiated and interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Jessie Lake. Mr. Lindgren was born in Haugen, Torberget, Norway on December 25, 1897. He came to America in 1914 with his mother, brothers and sisters. Before moving to Jessie Lake in 1918, they resided at Morse, Wisconsin. Mr. Lindgren married Martha Edwardson in 1922. He is survived by three daughters, Ruby Sannes; Mable Kongsjord of Jessie Lake and Olga Wise of Ely; three sons, William of Indiana; John and Neal of Jessie Lake; two sisters, Clara Snell of Marcell and Ena Hagen of Deer River; three brothers, Erling of Two Harbors and Carl and Adolph of Jessie Lake; and seven grandchildren. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/35800546/oscar-lindgren
