Otto Wilhelm Fiedler (3 April 1832 in Chemnitz – 19 November 1912 in Zurich) was a German-Swiss mathematician, known for his textbooks of geometry and his contributions to descriptive geometry.
Fiedler was the son of a shoemaker. He walked with a state scholarship to the Higher Commercial School in Chemnitz and attended from 1849 as the External Freiberg . In 1852, he was a mathematics teacher at the foreman school in Freiberg and 1853 at the trade school in Chemnitz. He had to care for his widowed mother and his siblings and continued his education through self-study, without having visited a university. It was in 1858 at the University of Leipzig in August Ferdinand Möbius in mathematics doctorate ( The central projection of geometrical science ).
