About Otto Magnus Drake af Hagelsrum
Otto Magnus Drake was the only adult male at the place of birth of Gustavus Magnus Oagta, who later took the name Eol. GME's mother Lena Jonsdotter was 16 at the time of his birth, though for the church document for his baptism at Saby, she gave her age as 22. Herr Otto Magnus was a lieutenant in the Swedish Army, and may have been on secondment to the place at the time. this is not yet documented, though he is in the census for that year at that place.
The family story always said GME, who became a master wagonmaker in Vadstena, was the child of the standardbearer for the King of Sweden, ( Gustaf Adolf), and Otto Magnus was of the family of minor nobility who carried the name of Drake (carrier of the dragon flag).... the standard bearer, one of names given to the minor noblemen who were part of the first Gustaf Adolf"s army.
The nobility would have been unlikely to marry commoners, and the church documents which would have delineated the fines in place at the time for fathering or bearing an illegitimate (oagta) child are missing.
The relationship is conjecture, but another family story is that in the late 1800s, someone from the Swedish government came to verify his grandson's lineage. The doments have not been located to prove any of this . Otto Magnus, though marrying later in life, appears to have died without issue . Someone of substance had supported GME to be apprenticed to a wagonmaker in Linkoping, most unlikely for a young unmarried woman of "commoner" origin.
