Was transported to Australia aboard the 'Almorah (2)' which only transported male Irish Convicts on the 22nd December, 1820, arriving in Waterford. The trip took 122 days.

While serving time, married Catherine Leeson at St John's Church Parramatta on 28-7-1823.

On the death of his wife - Catherine in 1842, he remarried in the same year to Maria Robinson at St Bede's Church - Appin. Had seven children.

Became a constable and lock-up keeper of Appin

An article in the Sydney Gazette - May 30th 1831 - states that Owen Laraghy was dismissed for highly inproper conduct. See link below.
