Patricia Wittman was born Jan. 25, 1925, to Harriet and Charles Cummerford at Potlatch. Pat had one sibling, Michael Charles Cummerford, who preceded her in death. As an infant, the family moved to Leslieville, British Columbia, Canada, and when she was age 5, her family relocated to Lewiston.

She attended St. Stanislaus School and then graduated from Lewiston High School in 1943. She graduated from the Sacred Heart Nursing School at Spokane, in 1946. She then worked at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston for three years as a nurse in the nursery, until she met and married Barthel H. (Bob) Wittman June 11, 1949.

Together they had nine children. Pat continued her nursing career as the Wittman Farms "24-hour Urgent Care" supervisor.

She had been an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lapwai, and more recently St. Stanislaus Parish in Lewiston.

Patricia and Bob had been married for 58 years, before Bob passed away in 2007. She volunteered at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for 16 years; Pat never missed a Thursday. She served as the Auxiliary board president from 1992 to 1994. Pat was always to be found at the blood pressure station. She volunteered there until she was 80 years of age.

Pat is survived by her nine children, Charlee and Tom Magnus of Coeur d'Alene, Cheryl and Bob Bielenberg of Genesee, Bob and Karen Wittman of Lapwai, Connie and Bart Baranco of Everett, Wash., Mike and Laurey Wittman of Bellevue, Wash., Ron and Karen Wittman of Lewiston, Harold and Cheron Wittman of Milton, Wash., Lyssa and Steven Kopke of Coeur d'Alene, and Lynda and John Mors of Ventura, Calif. Pat is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewis-Clark State College B. H. and Patricia Wittman Memorial Scholarship fund. Memorials will be accepted at any branch of the Potlatch No. 1 Federal Credit Union.

The memorial service will be conducted at 7 tonight at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lewiston. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, and a graveside service will follow at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.
