It was passed down That he was captured after the battle of Atlanta(records substatiate this fact). He was 19 when he joined and begged his mother to let him join. After being captured he was sent to Camp Chase Ohio and he appears on the rolls. He said he survived the winter by sleeping between 2 fat men in prison. He had lost so much weight upon returning home after the war his family did not recognize him
