Paul (36), an American businessman, who was staying at the Holiday Inn at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, was found dead in his room on 8th September 2003.

Senior Superintendent Mary Martins-Engelbrecht of SAPS head office in Pretoria said blood tests were taken of the deceased, which showed that a Schedule 5 medicine with a "sedative" action was present.

Police suspected a sex worker syndicate had been luring men to hotel rooms and stealing their possessions.
