About Pauline Christiansen
A cherished daughter of God, Pauline Hanks Christiansen, 87, left this mortal existence on January 10, 2015. She is free from a body that no longer worked. She crossed through the veil to be embraced by her loved ones who were eagerly waiting for her.
Pauline was born May 27, 1927 to Douglas "J" and Eva Hanks in Salt Lake City.
She attended South High School, where she made friendships that have carried on through the years.
She met and fell in love with her sweetheart, Dave. They were married on September 14, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. They purchased their home in Rose Park, where Mom lived for sixty-three years.
Mom was a one man woman. Dad passed away over twenty-six years ago and for all those years she missed him. She is now reunited with the love of her life.
Pauline was always busy. She loved to sew, garden, bake, work on genealogy, go camping, and fishing.
She was a faithful servant in her callings in the LDS Church. She served in Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society. She served as teacher, chorister, counselor, and President in all of the auxiliaries at some point in her life.
She was always happy to be serving in her callings or to help someone in need. She had a great testimony of the divinity of Jesus Christ and His work. She now leaves her legacy of service with her posterity.
She is survived by her children, David (Lynda) Christiansen, Linda (Andy) Newren, Larry (Jill) Christiansen, and Roger Christiansen; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren with one more arriving in March. She is survived by her sisters, LaFonda Grover and Ruth Cardon; and brother, Doug Hanks, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave; her daughter, Paula; and her grandson, Jake.
We would like to thank those from Brighton Hospice (Lori, Allen, Maria, Kami, Heather, Emily, and Alisa) who came and helped us care for mom and their concern for us. They were wonderful and caring and helped so much in our time of need.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in the Rose Park Stake Center, 760 North 1100 West, Salt Lake City. Viewings will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, Salt Lake City, and prior to the services at the church on Friday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. She will be interred in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Published in the Deseret News from January 14 to January 15, 2015.
