Nat W Washington, prosecuting attorney of Grant County , residing at Ephrata, his sister, Peachy, and brother James Washington, were drowned in the Columbia River while in bathing Saturday. The body of James has been recovered but dynamite was used without success in an endeavor to raise the other brother and sister and ferrymen down the river have been notified to be on the look out for their bodies...James and Peachy Washington were operating a stock ranch north of Almira.(Excerpt: Odessa Record: 7-16-1926) The bodies of N W Washington and his sister, Peachy who were drowned in the Columbia River near Seaton Ferry, July 10 were found Saturday morning near Bridgeport in Douglas County, 75 miles below the scene of their death. They were taken to Almira where a triple funeral service was held for James, Peachy and Nat Washington last Wednesday and their remains were laid beside those of their father and brother in the Almira Cemetery. (Odessa Record: 7-23-1926) Jacob Oster took Chris Musselman to Soap Lake Sunday. Mr. Oster brought back the news to Ruff that N W Washington had drowned in the Columbia River.
