Peleg Tilson

Peleg Tilson was a son of William Tilson (1740-1833) and his wife Mary Ransom (1740-1826), originally from Massachusetts, who came to Virginia prior to the Revolution and later lived in Tennessee.

Peleg married Rachel (or Rebecca) Dungan in Washington County, Virginia in 1785. Peleg's brother Lemuel married Mary Dungan, sister of Rachel, both being daughters of Hellings Dungan (1744/5-1813).

Peleg and Rachel had a large number of children, the last two being Hellings D. Tilson (c. 1806-1870s, m. Peggy Ann Murray, 2nd m. Nancy Higgins) and Eunice Tilson (c. 1809-1880s, m. James Tilson, a cousin).
