About Peovonia Bodnaruk
Wasyl and his wife Peovonia emigrated to Canada in 1898 from Village of Dubivsti in Bukovina in the Ukraine Republic with their sons Sylvester, Zachary and Alexandra Adam. They travelled by train to Hamburg Germany departing on June 23, 1898 on the Ship Christiania, sailing to Halifax, Nova Scotia arriving on July 6, 1898. They were listed as Austrian with their destination being Winnipeg. They instead travelled finally setting up a farmstead in Desjarlais, Alberta. After Peovonia died Wasyl married Alexandra who was Peovonia's daughter from a previous marriage.
