I would like to share something that my father (Daddy) would have loved to have seen. We, my 8 first cousins plus my Daddy;'s sister Bernice Fuchsgruber (and some spouses) went to Norway in August 2013 to attend a family reunion of many 3rd cousins of mine. More than 90 in total. Our group took a van to the reunion and were able to visit both our grandparents' home sites. I don't think any homes were still there, maybe one Marheim home (Marum in America) which was located in Marifjora Norway, one of the most scenic places I have ever seen. Their farms were on the hill and they had to walk up and down to work. After leaving one said that he missed the falls, the fjords and (one other thing). The other spot dear to my heart was where my Great Grandfather lived in Sundalsorro Norway on the Treadahl Farm. His last name had been Treadahl after the farm, but upon arriving and becoming a citizen he took the name Dahl. The group stayed at the Treadahl Hotel, and were fortunate enough to be shown around by the owner of the hotel and our distant cousin. We also visited one other "Dahl" farm on the Fjord. We saw the Aluminum Factory employing 4,000 people and we visited with Mr. Traedahl, Mr. Jondahl and Sigrid. All interested in giving us information and providing drinks, food and friendship at three locations. I believe one of the most interesting stories was about WWII when the hotel was taken over by the nazis. When Mr. Traedahl remodeled the main room of the original guest house he found the names of the nazis written on the wall. He preserved them for posterity and the house was supposed to be burned, but the nazis reneged on that one. So we saw it and some stuffed fish, like Salmon and Sea Trout. After that we went on a cruise on the famous Hertigerten line along the coast of Norway from Bergen to Kirkeness, Norway From time to time I will be adding more information on our trip. My Daddy was severely handicapped from a stroke he had in 1987 (?). Je was able to recover some and use an electric scooter to get around the house and the neighborhood, eventually going on a city shuttle to the veterans' hospitlal to visit the veterans. Received some sort of recognition for this
Additionally, He was very concerned that he would not see his first granddaughter, Kathie, who her mother was carrying shortly before he died. One night he dreamt he saw Katie and was so pleased and told my Mother. He must have really wanted to see Amy's daughter to have dreamt he did and was satisfied. July 7, 2014
