About Peter Carlson

Birth: Jun. 11, 1833 Death: May 15, 1924 Peter Carlson was the first of six children (Peter, Nils, Ake, Lars, Elna, Ola, Hanna) born to Carl Åkesson (1803-1871) and Bengta Carlsdotter who was born in Nasby, Tolånga, Skåne, Sweden. 

PETER CARLSON (Carl⁴ Åkesson, Åke³ Persson, Per²Anderson, Anders¹ Ekman) was the first of six children (Peter, Nils, Ake, Lars, Elna, Ola aka Ole, Hanna) born to Carl Åkesson (1803-1871) and Bengta Carlsdotter who lived in Nasby, Tolånga, Skåne, Sweden.

He married ELNA JONSDOTTER (Ellen Carlson) in Sweden. On April 14, 1869 at age 35, Peter came with his wife and their children, Elna (age 6) Charles H. (age 3 1/2) and John ( age 1) and their housemaid Hanna Nilsdotter. They settled in Ortonville, Big Stone Lake, Minnesota.

On May 4, 1896, Peter and Ellen Carlson deeded 1.07 acres for a cemetery of the Swedish Baptist Church of Big Stone Ceter. The Big Stone (Swedish) Baptist Church was located in Big Stone Township across the road from Thielke lake. Nothing exists today after the congregation

Peter and Ellen moved out west to Ferndale, WA after Charles and John were married and had children. Peter Carlson and Ellen Jonsdotter's children :

3. Charles "Charlie" Henry Carlson 1864-1936 born in Sweden, lived in Ortonville, MN went west to Ferndale, WA and died in San Diego County, CA. Profession: Photographer and Swedish Baptist Minister/Evangelist m. #1 Josephine M Engquist 1876-1905 and #2 wife Anna Lena Nelson 1866-1956 .

4. John Carlson 1867-1913 m. Christine Olson 1869-1925 married in Sweden, emigrated to Ortonville, MN went west to Ferndale, WA . John was enticed to move to the state of Washington to work as a Logger. After that initial work, he became a prosperous merchant. He died of Tuberculosis at age 46 and his widowed wife moved the family to Fresno County, CA. One evening after attending church she was accidentally run over and died at age 56.

6. Mary Esther Carlson b. Ap. 18, 1875 Big Stone County, Minnesota d. July 18, 1943 Seattle, King Co., Washington m. Jan 21, 1900 Whatcom County, WA to Ernest Evander Peterson b. Jan 21, 1879 Gärdserum, Kalmar, Sweden d. Sep 30, 1966 Seattle, King Co., WA .

Peter's first wife died and he then married Charlotte "Lotta" Weidall b. 1846-Lekåsa, Essunga kommun, Västra Götalands län, Sweden d.1927 in Ferndale, WA .(see bottom picture)
