Peter Dreiling

Born/died in Herzog, Russia.

He married Margaret Befort in about 1844. She was born about 1824 and died 31 Aug 1860.
At the time of their death they had one son and three daughters, whereas the 1857 Herzog listed two sons and two daughters. So presumably the son Aloysius born about 1854 died before 1860 and they had another daughter born after the 1857 census. Her name and fate are unknown.

Wife Margaret Befort is listed as Elizabeth Befort in the Goetz genealogy book by Helen Linenberger Hall published in 1962. She is listed as Katharine and Katharine Befort in the 1850 and 1857 Herzog census, respectively. However, all the Russian church records pertaining to her marriage, death and birth of her children listed her as Margaret. Two church records in the US also listed her as Margaret, the death of son Nicholas in St. Peter, KS and the second marriage of daughter Barbara to Andreas Linenberger in Victoria, KS where she is listed as Margaret nee Befort. Margaret Befort is probably the daughter of Anton Befort and wife Anna Elisabeth ? listed in the 1834 Obermonjou, Russia census and born 1822. She died 31 Aug 1860 in Herzog.

Their children came to the US in 1875/6, Nicholas and Barbara on the SS Ohio in 1875 and Anna Dreiling Schumacher in 1876 on the SS Suevia.
