Peter moved to Canada with his parents when he was under 10 years old, grew up and took over the farm in York County on land that is now part of York University and Black Creek Pioneer Village. The family also purchased land near Minto/Harriston, Wellington County, Ontario where he and his wife Phoebe (Bennett) are buried.
