Peter J served in the following during the Civil War. The Pennsylvania 2nd Artillery was formed in Camden, Camden Co., NJ on Jan 1, 1861 and mustered out of service in City Point, VA on Jan 1, 1866. Peter J began his service when the Company was serving from March 1864 to June 1864 in the 1st Brigade, 22nd Corp, the Defenses of South Potomac Division of the Washington, DC Army. On June 6, 1864 through December 1864 it was with the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 18th Corp of the Army of the James. October 1864 through Dec 1864 they were the 3rd Brigade, 22 Corp. Then on December 10, 1864 they became the Provisional Brigade, Division of Infantry Div defenses, Berm. Hund, 18th Corp, Army of the James. January 1865 saw them with the Artillery Brigade, Terry's provisional Corp, Dept of North Carolina Army, Co. A and finally on March 1865 until April 1865 they served with the 1st Brigade, Infantry Division defenses Brim Hund., 18th Corp, Army of the James.
