Peter Monfoort

"The Emigrant". It is said he came to the colonies on "the Beaver" in 1625 then returned to Holland to marry and returned to the Colonies with Sarah on the ship "Love".

Birthplace -
Pieter's birthplace as Valenciennes, Nord France is based off of French Huguenots history at that time as well as family history. Not a big deal if that is changed as there really is no official source of that info. His brother, Daniel, has a record of baptism in the Netherlands in 1619 so of course there is a chance that Pieter was born there too.
Death Place -
Pieter lived and died at the Wallabout (Wallabout Bay) in Brooklyn, NY. Long Island City is slightly further north than Brooklyn. For some reason I see LIC a lot on the online family tree websites. I think it may be because back then that whole area was called Long Island (Lang Eiland) by the Dutch (all of current Kings, Queens and current Nassau and Suffolk Counties) as the counties themselves did not exist in the 1600's which has caused the generalization of Long Island to be more specifically and mistakenly called Long Island City since "Long Island" itself is not an option on any drop down locations as far as I am aware.
