About Peter H Mooers
Peter was part of a Pre-Loyalist movement to establish the settlement of Maugerville in the recently vacated lands of Nova Scotia (modern day New Brunswick.) He and most of the settlers were veterans of the French War, and this was in small part to reward them for their service to the Crown, but more due to the need for them to produce and trade goods with England. Each grantee received 500 acres of land on the River St. John, (originally it was supposed to be 1000, but a clerical mistake lowered it to 500.)
