OBITUARY - WELL KNOWN PAUL RESIDENT STRICKEN THANKSGIVING DAY 1937

Stricken with paralysis at his home early Thanksgiving morning, Peter N ielson of Paul, resident there since 1917, died a few minutes before noon and al though conscious until the last was unable to speak.

Funeral at Paul Ward Monday afternoon.

Burial in the Paul Cemetery, Payne Mortuary in charge. 5 Brother: Jose ph A. Nielson, William H. Nielson, Albert C. Nielson, all of Spanish For, Utah; Andrew Nielson of Payson,Utah; Elmer Francis Nielson of Salt Lake City, a nd 1 brother-in-law, Peter Betts of Payson,Utah. Mrs. C.B.Wiley, Mrs. Emery T anner, Mrs. O.T.Miller, Mrs. Very Murray & Mrs. C.W.Platts. Mr Nielson was 61 years of age. He was born Nov 18 1876 at Sp. Fork,Ut ah a son of Peter Nielson & Neilsine Nelson. He married Laura Betts Dec 15 189 7 in the Salt Lake Temple. They first lived in Palmira,Ut. and in 1901 went t o Raymond, Canada where they resided 13 years. Returning to Utah in 1914 . They remained there until 1916 then they went to Twin Falls and one year late r came to Paul making their home there since then. Mr Nielson was a Carpenter, contractor, and builder, and a cabinet maker. Besides his wife he is survived by their 5 sons and 3 daughters: Ralp h B. Nielson whose residence is not known, Gilbert Nielson of Junction City,Or egon; Elmer Nielson of Mt. Pleasant,Ut; William Nielson of Muldoon; Wallace Nie lson living at home; Mrs. Ida Moncur of Ririe,Id; Mrs Hazel Severson of Chinook,Mont; and Mrs. Veda Thompson also of Chinook. One child Doward d ied at the age of 11 months in Canada.

5 brothers already named survive & 2 sister, Elnora Cooper of Sp. Fork, Ut and Rena Beddingfield of Eureka,Ut. 35 relatived were in attendance at the funeral.

Notable Descendants

Kyrsten Sinema, U.S. Senator’s paternal grandmother was Laurene Margaret Nielsen (the daughter of Ralph Betts Nielsen and Margaret Sue Bender). Laurene was born in California. Ralph was the son of Peter Nielsen/Nielson, Jr., whose parents were Danish, and of Laura Betts, whose parents were English. Kyrsten’s great-grandmother Margaret was born in North Dakota, to German parents.
