Peter PRIEST was born ABT 1700 in England\Wales, and died ABT 1770 in , Fauquier Co, VA.
He was the son of 2. John PRIEST and 3. Eleanor [PRIEST].
He married Sarah LAWRENCE ABT 1736 in , Prince Wm Co, VA, daughter of Edward LAWRENCE and Sarah? [LAWRENCE]. She was born 26 MAY 1723 in , Northumberland Co, VA, and died AFT 1781 in , Fauquier Co, VA.
Peter is believed to have been an immigrant, but no definitive study has been made, so far as known at this time. The unknown author of "Priest Genealogy, 1908" says "Came to this country from England and settled in Fauquier Co., Virginia about 1700." Subsequent writers have accepted this statement."

This is not simple. There were two unrelated Priest family in VA in this time period. One was based in Fauquier and Prince William counties.
The other was in Lunenburg County.
Caution is recommended.

"Peter Priest came to America, and settled in Virginia about 1700. He was married and had seven children. 1. ***THOMAS, who settled in Farquier Co., VA, and married Miss Stark of Culpeper Co.; 2. John, who also lived in Farquier Co., and married Elizabeth Brown; 3. George (1748-1829), who married Frances Catlett, and died at Sideview, KY; 4. Peter, who lived in Green Co., KY; 5. William, who went to WV, and two daughters."
There are two roughly contemporaneous John T. Priests, one from Lunenburg County, VA and the other from Facquier County VA.
John from Facquier married Mary Stark, or sometimes Elizabeth Brown.
John from Lunenburg married Mary LNU. His father's name was Cornelius, who is very present in the Lunenburg County tithe records and marriage bonds. He is NOT a descendant of Peter Priest.
John from Facquier has a SON named Rhodam "Rhody." John from Lunenburg had a DAUGHTER named Rhody Love.
Several other of their children's names overlap, which is cause of concern on geni. The public sources are wrong.
I live in Williamson County, TN. I have read John T. Priest's will in Will Book 1, and I have traced two lots he owned in the City of Franklin, # 66 and #76.
It is a confusion, but I go back and nibble at it every now an then. A Lawson geneology postulated two Thomas' with one nicknamed Peter.
