Petrus Mohlamme (2004 - 2015)

Brief overview:

Petrus (11), a farm workers son on farm Palmietkuil outside Vredefort was shot dead on 19th September 2015. He was with Katleho Mosolodi (15), at foreman's house, Hansie Raath (50), having dinner.

Hansie had invited Tsietsi Joseph Mangola, whom had previously worked for him, to dinner and went to collect him at a nearby fuel station. The two children, Hansie and Mangola were eating dinner, when Mangola left the dining area and went to Hansie's safe and returned with a firearm. He shot Hansie in the head, behind his ear. The children then ran and Mangola shot them both.

Spokesperson Constable Masilela Langa said other children managed to phone the police for help.

Mangola stole Hansie's pick-up truck and firearm and fled. The vehicle was traced a few days later in Kroonstad. Police tracked Mangola down to Maokeng township in Kroonstad. He was set to appear in court on 28th September 2015.

Hansie's son Jean said Mangola had worked with his father before. His father had supported him morally and financially over the years. He described his father as an honest, soft-hearted man who trusted people.
