Notes for THOMAS HUESTIS:

The story goes... that Major John Andre, a British officer was the go-between for General Benedict Arnold and the British, and that he was imprisoned at '76 Stonehouse or Mabie's Inn. Mabie was of good family and was a French Huguenot expelled from France. Thomas was arrested by rebel troops just before the end of the war and was probably also held at the Inn. Phoebe had been born in the house and Thomas ended up married to the daughter of the inkeeper????? - so says alan.huestis@ns.sympatico.ca
