WORCESTER Phyllis (Proulx) Lavoie, 86, of 555 Plantation Street, a former Shrewsbury resident, was called home to God Tuesday, in The Hospice Residence at Coes Pond, surrounded by her family. Her husband, Dr. Robert J. Lavoie, died in 1988.

She is survived by her children Robert Lavoie, of Coos Bay OR, Elizabeth George of Spencer, Denise Duffy of Shrewsbury, Francine Carroll of Shrewsbury, and John Lavoie of Worcester. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, and a brother, Dr. William Proulx, of Campbellsburg, KY and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by a son, Paul G. Lavoie, and a daughter, Suzanne Coviello, as well as a brother Alfred C. Proulx.

She was born in W. Warwick, RI, the daughter of the late Alfred C. and Angelina (St. Germaine) Proulx. She graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, and worked for many years in its Neo-Natal unit. Later she worked with her husband in his medical practice. She was a member of Saint Mary's Church in Shrewsbury and Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Worcester. She was an avid golfer.

Her funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Residence at Coes Pond, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602
