Biography
Piero P. Foa was born in Turin, Italy on April 13, 1911 into an Italian Jewish family.
He graduated from the University of Milan, Italy, which awarded him his medical degree in 1934 and his doctor of science in 1938.
After the promulgation of the Racial Laws, he escaped Fascist Italy in 1939.
He was research fellow at Yale University and the University of Michigan, before joing the Faculty of the University of Chicago Medical School as professor of physiology and pharmacology.
In 1962, he went to Detroit as chairman of the Department of Research at Sinai Hospital and professor of physiology at Wayne State University, where he remained until his retirement in 1982.
Piero P. Foa died in West Bloomfield, MI on November 11, 2005.
