Soldat au regiment Carignan-Salières, Cie de Salières; Engagé Ouest; marchand.

Volunteer soldier of the Carignan-Salières Regiment, Company of Salières, which was sent by Louis XIV to defend Canada from Iroquois. Embarked from La Rochelle, France on the King's naval vessel L'Aigle d'Or on May 13, 1665. Arrived at Quebec on August 18, 1665. Participated in the Regiment's campaign against the Mohawks in the autumn of 1666 and destruction of their villages northwest of Schenectady in New York. Accepted the King's offer to remain in Canada as a settler when the Regiment returned to France in 1668. Became a contract fur trader and merchant after his discharge.
