About Pierre de Lashmutt
Not the husband of Anne de la Chaumette
Pierre de la Chaumette, living in New Jersey, in 1698 and later, was DEFINITELY not married to Anne Palazy, who was having children with another Pierre de la Chaumette in Amsterdam in early 1700s.
There were three Pierre de la Chaumettes born in the 1600s in the town of Rochechouart, France. (SEE Appendix A in Shumate book pp. A-56 through A-59, for list of Pierres: Pierre son of Francoise de la Chaumette and Marie b. 4/13/1661; Pierre son of Josias de la Chaumette, Pharmacist and Francoyse, born 12/9/1663; and Pierre, son of Daniel de la Chaumette, Barrister, and Marie, born 4/5/1664).
We know that Pierre, son of Daniel and Marie, fled to Netherlands and England with his two brothers (Jean and Daniel) along with others in the band of Pastor Palazy who had a daughter Anne. Did he come to America with his brother Jean, who arrived in Virginia? Or did he remain in Netherlands and marry Anne? Was one of the other Pierre's the ancestor in New Jersey?.
Ray Rainsberger summary:
Pierre de la Chaumette was born April 4, 1664, Rouchechouart, France.
In 1681, he fled to Holland in the company of two of his brothers and the pastor of his Huguenot Church, Clovis Palasy, on account of the relentless persecution of the Huguenots during the reign of Louis XIV.
Pierre married Anne Palasy, daughter of Clovis Palasy, either in Holland or in England.
He immigrated to America around 1698 where he bought land in Gloucester County, New Jersey. He was still living in Gloucester County, New Jersey as late as 1721 when he witnessed a will.
Records show him with a Catherine Lindsey too.

Delashmit
Frequency: (191)
(number of times this surname appears in a sample database of 88.7 million names, representing one third of the 1997 US population)
Americanized form of southern French de la Chaumette, a topographic name for someone who lived on a chaumette, a high, arid plateau with very little vegetation, derived from a diminutive of chaume ‘bare land’ (a specialized sense of Latin calmus ‘calm’, ‘unruffled’).
FOREBEARS: Pierre de la Chaumette (born 1673) came from Rochouard, France, via England to Gloucester, NJ, in about 1698; in NJ he became known as Peter Delashmet. Later he was joined by his brother Jean de la Chaumette, a wealthy colonist from Martinique and VA. Either this Jean or his nephew (Pierre's son) became known as John Shumate. See Shumate.
Ben M. Angel notes:
There is an existing published genealogy concerning this individual, which unfortunately is not available online. I would suspect that this source would have information that may help to resolve the question of whether Catherine Delashmutt came from Anne Palazy or Catherine Lindsey: http://openlibrary.org/works/OL3542050W/The_first_four_generations_descended_from_Pierre_de_la_Chaumette_(Peter_DeLashmutt)

Meanwhile, Pierre de La Chaumette is mentioned in the book "Our Shoemake Roots" as having been listed as a Protestant at worship in Rochechouart on 26 August 1681, apparently in preparation for the revocation of the Edict of Nantes on 20 October 1684. He is described as an apothecary. Shortly after the revocation, Pastor Clovis Palazy left with three of Pierre's brothers for London. Pierre left for the Principality of Basel, eventually making his way down the Rhine River to Holland, and then catching up with Reverend Palazy again in London, where he is recorded as having married his daughter, Anne (source material for this remains elusive).
I've not found any information on his port of arrival, but would suspect it to be New York (purely speculation). Again, Pierre's genealogy I suspect would have a sourced biography covering all this.

From Dennis B. von Ting's family tree:

Pierre De La Chuamette may have married Anne Palasy, the daughter of Pastor Clovis Palasy, in England or Holland. He and his family may have been immigrants to Gloucester Co., New Jersey, in 1698.
The following was taken for a letter to Robert S. Riley, from Virgil D. Close, Editor of the De La Chaumette Randon Notes.
One Pierre de la Chaumette was in Gloucester Co., NJ, as early as 1698, and purchased 100 acres of land at that place in the year 1701/ The record of thes purchase is in the published archives of NJ (1st series, vol. xxi, page 654).
Most of the children of Pierre de la Chaumette settled in western MD and began moving westward after the Revolution to OH and KY, and westward to MO, IA, NE and beyond, as well as into Indiana. Of couse they, like all early American families, are quite numerous in all parts of the country today....
These families took the name in the form of DeLashmutt (the spelling of the MD descendents of Pierre). Those showing up in the south bear the name DeLashmitt or DeLashnet -- so similar to the northern form that it is hard to believe that there was not some original connection ....
Virgil Clos, believes, it is also possible that the correct Pierre De La Chaumette is the son of Francoise de la Chaumette, the sergemaker, and he was baptized on April 30, 1653. Pierre woild probably have been approcimatley 37-40 yrs of age, when he settled in NJ in 1698.
