About Priscilla Hanks
We have a family artifact of Priscilla--a 1904 Wisconsin newspaper clipping with a woodcut of Priscilla's face. The clipping reads:
"MRS. PRISCILLA MARTIN, WELL KNOWN IN GENET, KY. WRITES:
"DUFFY'S DRIVES AWAY MY NERVOUS COLIC."
"I have used Pure Malt Whiskey for twenty years; am never without it. I am troubled with nervous colic from time to time, and it is the only thing that drives it away.
I was born May 23, 1811, which makes me ninety-three and over. I was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky. My father, John Hanks, was of Scotch descent and was related to the mother of Abraham Lincoln.
Duffy's Pure Malt Whiskey is a grand tonic. When I feel tired or run down I take a little in a half glass of milk or warm water and it instantly braces me up and gives me a new lease of life."
Taken from a letter from Nora Lee Walters to Vivian Honadel : "Grandma Priscilla dreamed a fiddle tune and called it 'The Devil's Dream'. She hummed it and had Van play it & raised her skirts & danced to the Devil's Dream."
