About Proctor Owen Hayden
When Proctor was an infant, Proctor's mother (Martha Ann [Anna] RUSSELL GRAY HAYDEN) died during childbirth delivering his little sister. Proctor went to live with the paternal grandparents. Proctor's father, Charles Lewis HAYDEN went to work the farm at the recently widowed Lucinda Tyler (formerly Lucinda Russell) who was Martha Ann's aunt.
Proctor served as an Army medic in World War I. On a civilian camping trip with friends, Proctor ate from a contaminated can of beans, and became ill. He was taken home and died from food poisoning approximately 5 days later. Proctor's son, Charles Lewis HAYDEN, was 4 years old at the time of his death.
