Leopold Ettlinger (microbiologist)
Leopold Ettlinger (* 3. October 1914 in Karlsruhe; † 23. August 2008 in Zurich) was a Swiss microbiologist.
He came in 1935 from Germany to Switzerland to attend the ETH Zurich Agronomy study. He was there in 1945 graduated with the paper "On the genus Crumenula sensu Rehm with special focus on Crumenula-dieback of Pinus species". 1958-1982 he was Professor of Agricultural bacteriology and fermentation biology at ETH Zurich. 1963 was renamed the Chair in "Chair of Microbiology". In 1982 he became professor emeritus. He was with the archaeologist Elizabeth Ettlinger married.
