About Pte. Frank Wagstaff
Frank Wagstaff was born in Christchurch on 7 May 1897, the son of Henry Wagstaff and Beatrice Bing Wagstaff (nee Smith) who had married in Timaru on 30 June 1894. He was a Railway Cadet before serving as a Private in the Wellington Infantry Regiment during World War I [Service No. WWI 55871]. Frank fell ill in England and was admitted to the Tidworth Military Hospital on the Salisbury Plains in Wiltshire, England. He died there of cerebro-spinal meningitis and was buried in Tidworth Military Cemetery [C. 239.].
