About Pte. James Joseph Kent

James Kent was born in Dunedin on 2 November 1887 (reg. 1887/12268). At some stage 'Joseph' was added as his middle name. His parents were John Charles Kent (1844-1927) and Mary Catherine Kent (nee Bourke) (1849-1938) who married at Waimate in Canterbury on 25 January 1879. James joined the Wellington Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion during World War I (Service No. WWI 52619). He died of wounds at the No. 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station in France and was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery in Belgium [XXVII. FF. 19.] (bio by Debbie McCauley, 2 July 2022).
