James Meadows Dead
After a lingering illness extending over the past several years, James Meadows passed quietly away Tuesday morning, December 22, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.M. Morrison in Hunter.
James Meadows was a native of Illinois, being born in Manard Co., that state, and at the time of his death was 75 years old. He served his country in an Illinois Regiment during the Civil War.
He was the father of seven children, four of whom survive him. They are: Mrs. A.M. Morrison, Jesse Meadows and Chas Meadows of Hunter, and John Meadows of Ellis Co., Okla. His wife preceded him to the better land a year ago last May.
James Meadows was a man who had lived a clean, straightforward life and when the end came, he murmured not, knowing that the reward of faithfulness awaited him.
