Martin De Bord Martin De Bord died at 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, at his home in this village, from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy from which he had been prostrated since March 10th. He would have been 82 years of age had he lived until April 8th. Deceased had been an invalid for years and for the past eight years was unable to walk. He bore his suffering with patience and Christian fortitude to the end. The funeral was held Wednesday from the house, with services by Rev. Mr. Hopkins, Methodist. Burial was made in Lakeside cemetery. The pall bearers were Messrs. Crowe, Stevens, Harmon, Lyons, Millard and Cage Tilton. Martin De Bord was born April 8, 1820, in Washington County, Va. In 1839 he was married to Miss Sarah Baker. Mr. De Bord was left a widower with 12 children. March 11, 1861 he married Mary M. Hiett, from which union one child was born. When 23 years of age, Mr. De Bord was converted to religion and joined the Baptist church. August 11, 1861 he enlisted as a private in Co. A, 37th Illinois infantry. After a short term of service he was discharged on account of disabilities from which he never recovered. The family have lived in and near Osakis for the past 26 years. Mr. De Bord leaves a wife who has cared for him tenderly and uncomplainingly during all his years of suffering, three sons and three daughters, and a number of grandchildren. John De Bord, of Alberta, Canada; Andrew De Bord, Cooperstown, N. D.; Marion De Bord, of Gordon; Mrs. Faille and Mrs. Chas. Buck, of this village; and Mrs. E. G. Pike, of Glenwood, survive him.
