World War I: PETER WNUK Peter Wnuk is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Wnuk, 513 Wall street. He like a number of his friends enlisted on the 25th of April. Was sent to Jefferson Barracks, then to Fort Monroe, Va,, and is now "Somewhere in France." Peter is well known to the East End and writes he likes to work for Uncle Sammy. Several Fourtii ward boys are in the same camp wibh Peter Wnuk, a former Winona boy now with Battery B, 8bh Regiment, Field Artillery "Somewhere in France," according to a letter received her© today by friends of ttte Wmona, boy. "The weather here is fine, its like spring and the resit of the bunch, are well and happy, the gam© as I," Mr. Wnuk writes. B. Woiszon, V. Rompa and J. Bmczyk are stall with me in this camp but I have not seen B. Kostuk and hip friend, Anton Katula, for elver a month. "Everything in Franc© 1s fin© and daaidy bat one thing, and that is I don't like the French, tobacco and we don't get very much American tobacco here.
