About Qasim ibn Hasan

  • Wilaadfat (Birth): c. 45 AH (c. 666 AD)
  • Wafaat (Death): 9th Muharram 60 AH (11th October 680 AD)

al-Qasim ibn Hasan (Arabic: قاسم بن حسن‎) (c. 669 – 10 October 680) was the son of the early Islamic Shīa Imām, Hasan ibn Ali, and grandson of Ali ibn Abi Talib. He was born in 669, three years before the death of his father.

When Hasan's brother Husayn prepared to leave Medina in 670, Qasim's mother Umm Farwa asked Husayn to take her and Qasim with him. Husayn agreed. Qasim, although only 14 years old, had, like his cousins Aun and Muhammad, learnt fencing from his uncles Abbas and his cousin Ali Akbar.

He took part in the battle of Karbala (680), in which he died.
