There are two new hypotheses as to offspring [Hatte Blejer, March 2021].
One is that Sulka Unknown Wizjanska was his daughter. Her father's name was Leib and in subsequent generations the Visanskas and Margolis descendants intermarried and immigrated to South Carolina.
Two is that he has a son Yehoshua Heshel, based upon research done by a Russian whose grandmother was a Margolis with roots in Mariampole.
The only known son is Rabbi Harry Zvi Hirsh Levine, of Charleston and Baltimore.
His brother, Mordechai Margolis, named his eldest son Judah Leib in 1798, so Haim Judah Leib was likely deceased by that year. According to our cousin, Ann Cassia Margolis, he was sickly.
Above is impossible, since his son was supposedly born 1807. Needs more thought and research.
The name Margolis is from the Hebrew מרגלית meaning pearl.
