About R' Chaim Shlomo Rottenberg of Flatbush, New York

Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Rottenberg was born in Czehslovakia about 1925. He came to the USA in 1935. He was the successor of his father's synagogues in Brownsville. Because of demographic changes he moved to East Flatbush and built a synagogue there. About 1985 he moved to Forshay and built a synagogue there. On his deathbed he asked that his synagogue to continue to operate after his death, for at least one year. Exactly one year after his death his synagogue burned to the ground. The residents of Forshay rebuilt the synagogue in his memory, and it still is in operation today.
