About Rabbi Hershel Levin, Rabbi in Manchester
Old overview: "Herschel married twice , divorced first wife with whom he had 2 children He returned from the USA to Salford and remarried having 9 children . The names Eli and Michal were mentioned but not confirmed. The name Sarah must be the second wife . His grandchildren were Basil Phil, Joyce Betty and Barbara Joseph (Hoffman?) Joyce and Lawrence's s daughter is Helen Della . Herschel was badly injured in the tram accident and died a year later after being paralysed . There continues to be discrepancies regarding this information . My mother Dorothy said that Bertha did not get on with her step mother. The first wife presumably Sarah died leaving 9 children , the first family . No mention of a marriage and emigration to USA followed by divorce. There were 9 children followed by a remarriage producing 2 children and 2 step children of the second wife .We cannot be absolutely sure which version is correct"
Curator Note: Both these versions are incorrect. The correct version is shown in the current tree view. I've found no source for Samuel or Hyman though. Awaiting help from relatives.
