Josef Knöpfmacher born 3rd Sept 1815 in Mikulov(Nikolsburg) in Moravia , died after 1905. Son of Joachim K and Süsse. 1829 scholar at the yeshiva in Mikulov, firstly with M. Benet, then with N Trebitsch. 1833-39 at the yeshiva of S. Quetsch in Lipnik (Leipnik). 1840 to Preßburg, 5 year long study at the evangelical (? word usually translated as "protestant") grammar school. 1845 back to Mikulov, there scholar of the moravian ...... Samson Raphael Hirsch; founded a homiletic club with his fellow scholars Kayserling, Frankfurter and Kutna. Ordained by Hirsch, of the local legal faculty and by Salomon Quetsch; rabbinate candidate in Mikulov. About 1850 ? in the college of Samson Raphael Hirsch, Abraham Isak Weinberger and Meyer Feuchtwang. There follows a list of his publications, documents and literature.

Rabbi Joseph Knöpfmacher lived his entire life in Nikolsburg. He sometimes spelled his surname "Knöpfelmacher". He died at age 94 on 30 November 1909, and was buried in Nikolsburg's Jewish cemetery, grave 22-29, section VI, next to the grave of his wife.
