About Rabbi Naftali Zvi Hirsh (Babad), ABD Pozna
GEDCOM Note
From Chenowicz, Moshe. Rabbis & Notables of Wlodimierz, in Wladimir Wolynsk: in memory of the Jewish community, 1962:
Rabbi Ephraim Naftali son of Rabbi Joseph Jonah
In those days the yeshiva in Ludmir was able to appoint Rabbi Ephraim Naftali son of Rabbi Joseph Jonah....
Specific details about this head of the Ludmir yeshiva have not survived. We only know that before Ludmir he was a head of yeshiva in Brisk, Lithuania (Brest, Belarus today).[4]
Rabbi Ephraim Naftali died 25 Tammuz 1622 in Ludmir....
[4] The Rabbi and head of the rabbinic court there at that time was his father-in-law Rabbi Jakob, son of Moshe Halevi, son-in-law of the Maharam of Padua, grandfather of the officer and emissary Saul Wahl of Brisk, Lithuania (Brest, Belarus today), about whom the famous legend is told of his reigning as King of Poland for one day.
