NEW GRAVESTONE HONOURS FIRST FEMALE NATIONAL NEWSPAPER EDITOR
THE legacy of the UK's first female national newspaper editor has been preserved thanks to The Observer and Sunday Times newspapers.
The grave of Rachel Beer, who was editor of the two papers in the 1890s, had been left to decay in Kent and Sussex Cemetery, Tunbridge Wells.
Journalist Ann Treneman, during the course of writing her book Finding the Plot: 100 Graves to Visit Before You Die, came across the gravestone, which only stated the date of death in 1927 and that she was the daughter of businessman David Sassoon.
