Biography

Rachel Crocker was born in 1717 in Barnstable, Massachusetts. She was the younger daughter of Samuel Crocker and his wife, Sarah (Parker) Crocker. The Crocker family were farmers on Cape Cod by the late 17th Century. Rachel had 2 brothers: David and Cornelius. Her family was intermarried with the Howland and Jenkins families, among others.

On January 18, 1739, Rachel Crocker married Joseph Howland in Barnstable, Mass. They had 3 daughters together:[1]

Hannah HOWLAND b: 8 AUG 1739 in Barnstable, MA Mary HOWLAND b: 9 SEP 1740 in Barnstable, MA Rachel HOWLAND b: 2 MAY 1742 in Barnstable, MA Unfortunately, Rachel (Crocker) Howland, did not recover from problems with her third and final pregnancy. She died one week after her daughter Rachel was born, on May 9, 1742.

Her husband, Joseph Howland, remarried to Mariah Jones on May 16, 1745, in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts.
